Normandale Vice President of Finance and Operations Lisa Wheeler was one of eight individuals to receive the Minnesota State Chancellor's Award at the 2017 CFO Finance Conference in St. Paul, Minn.
The Chancellor's Award recognizes individuals or teams whose efforts support the Strategic Framework and result in systemwide improvements in financial management, services or processes. Award criteria focus on innovation, collaboration, and new work that is above and beyond regular duties.
Wheeler received the award as a member of the 2017 Allocation Framework Technical Advisory Team. The team was recognized for the redesign recommendations which it presented to (and were subsequently approved by) the Board of Trustees.
Laura King, vice chancellor and Chief Financial Officer of Minnesota State said, "Their work was informed by a very extensive consultation process and campus outreach effort, and the changes were implemented with 2018 allocations to be effective July, 2017.The group developed principles and guidance tied to the Strategic Framework and sensitive to presidential goals and objectives. The changes brought clarity to the methodology and incentives that will aid all of us as we work to service students across the state."
Wheeler was joined on the team by Karen Kedrowski (VP at the Northeast Higher Education District), Deb Kerkaert (VP at Southwest Minnesota State University), Lori Kloos (VP at St. Cloud Technical and Community College, now serving as interim president), Mike Kroening (VP at Minnesota State College Southeast), Steve Schmall (VP at Rochester Community and Technical College), Rick Straka (VP at Minnesota State University, Mankato), and Susan Anderson (associate director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Minnesota State).
