50th Anniversary Jubilee Open House

Normandale Community College will host the 50th Anniversary Jubilee Open House on Saturday, September 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. 

There will be a Magical History Tour exhibit featuring Normandale historical displays and Normandale timeline, banners on loan from the 1968 Minnesota Historical Society exhibit, foods from the decades, a photo booth, an Alumni Art Exhibit and Scrabble Board.

A variety of Normandale Departments will also be hosting Open House. These departments include Biology (Greenhouse by Campus Green and Parking Ramp), Chemistry (S 2384), Dental Hygiene (Dental Hygiene Clinic, S 2410-39), Geology (S 1351), Nursing (S 2332 & S 2384), Physics/Engineering (S 1324) and Vacuum Technology (S 1342-44). A program will begin at 10 a.m. in the Auditorium.

The program features starts at 10 a.m. with a performance from a band of current Normandale employees and Music faculty. The Bloomington Chorale will perform at 10:15 a.m., with two songs under current conductor and Normandale alum Steve Johnston and one under the direction of David Docter, who was an original faculty member in 1968. The program will also feature a proclamation from Bloomington Mayor Gene Winstead and a speech by Normandale President Joyce Ester.

There will be also be a program entitled "The Evolution of Normandale in Five Speeches" featuring former Chemistry Instructor Warren Eidsness (The Beginning), former instructor Betty Berglund (Teaching Amongst Tumult), current Business Instructor Larry Borgen (From Student to Teacher), current student Latifa Rwali (Current Student) and Normandale alum Erik Burns (Rising from the Ashes).

Following the program, exhibits and open houses, there will be Retiree Luncheon and Sports Luncheon both taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information on this event, and Normandale's 50th Anniversary go to www.normandale.edu/celebrate50
