Lissa Jones will be speaking on "The Silent Covenant" at Normandale Community College On Wednesday, April 4 from 2 to 3 p.m. in Room K 1450. The event is sponsored by the Department of Student Life.
The conversation will be about the unspoken agreements and decisions which deny black Americans, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in our times. It will be an opportunity to hear from an expert, and to have a dialogue about topics of race and identity.
Jones is a frequent presenter on the intersection of black history and present-day thought and on black historical figures and movements. By day, she provides interim executive leadership for nonprofit organizations experiencing change and coaches leaders on getting closer to equity in their organizations. For the last 11 years, Jones has served as Creator, Executive Producer, and Host, of 'Urban Agenda' on KMOJ Radio, Minnesota's oldest black radio station. She is also privileged to host Seasons 2 and 3 of the podcast, 'Black Market Reads', produced by iDreamtv, for the Givens Foundation for African American Literature. Most recently, Jones has been a part of collaborative broadcasts with Minnesota Public Radio, an emerging adventure!
